Travelling from Italy to the UK we had booked an overnight stay at Bertrix and were pleasantly surprised with this great B and B. It was snowing heavily when we arrived to receive a very warm welcome from Christiane.
The house was warm and toasty - the bedroom was light and airy and the bathroom was spacious with Philippe Starck fittings.

Breakfast was super - a variety of food from zero km- wonderful bread and croissants bought freshly from the boulangerie Although our dogs stayed in the car , Christiane said that they would be welcome in the house despite the inclement weather. This beautiful property is situated in the small rural town of Bertrix.
Christiane was a fantastic host, she made us feel very welcome in her home. The property is fantastic and very tastefully furnished. The rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable.

The bed was enormous. In the morning we were served a delicious breakfast with lots of choice. There were homemade jams, and local items like the bread, pastries, cheese and ham. Christiane offered lots of helpful recommendations about what to see and do. We were able to park for free directly outside the property. The town of Bertrix is small, but has a several bars and plenty of place to eat.
All the locals were very friendly and the food and drink excellent. This is a great place from which to explore the Ardennes region, either by car or using the nearby train station or busses. There is a very friendly Tourist Information Office in the town with helpful staff, who also made excellent wine recommendations.

Greeted warmly by a lovely lady who spoke limited English but with my limited French we got on fine. The room I was shown to was beautifully decorated with all sorts of technology built in lovely furnishings and a bathroom with walk in shower to die for.
Only down side cash only but it did mean I had to walk into the town to a bank and saw parts I wouldn't have otherwise seen. Top notch if I find myself in Bertrix again I will definitely stay there.
