They put us in a square box new building. The shower did not work. It had a double bed and a single bed and looked like a school dormitory. There was building works, generators etc. There was also some sort of school behind on the road so the children run up and down singing songs at 7am.

The food was not good, the all inclusive breakfast was very mean! One omelette between two persons. No toast or butter. The evening meal was expensive and not of good quality.

We stayed only one night and moved to another site. There is nowhere to go either, you cannot walk far only along a small section of the beach. We were told not to venture out at night, which is fair enough if there were places to go. The complex was deserted and it should not have been open to customers. I enjoyed my stay at Kijiji Beach. Lovely spacious rooms, though the room we stayed in was directly under the kitchen so we could hear alot of noise and also the smell food cooking. The beach was very clean but got crowded during the weekend.

The waiters offered great service and the food was good. We arrived very late at night to find the gates were locked. Fortunately my other half is maasai and as the security guys are as well they let us in. They then had to contact the owner who very obviously wasn't expecting us. We got a room for the first night and then once the owner arrived the following morning we moved into what was to be our room for the next seven nights.

They had a fire at the end of last year which completely destroyed their kitchen, reception and main accommodation block and although work is underway to rebuild it they are obviously in a state of flux. We had booked to stay in one of the garden bungalows which are on the opposite side of the property so we were ok. The room itself is a good size and the bed was comfortable. The room was serviced daily with fresh bed linen and towels. However, if you're at all unsteady on your legs you would not be able to climb in and out of the bath.

In my opinion they should rip it out and put in a walk in shower instead. There are plenty of shelves to put your stuff on and a smallish wardrobe but no rail inside it so you can't hang your clothes up. Fortunately there are some coat hooks in the bedroom so that's what we used instead. Four light bulbs were out. We were in the furthest away bungalow and got a very poor wifi reception on the patio area outside the room and none inside.

Another couple checked in for a night and they didn't have enough food in the kitchen because our breakfast was very obviously halved the next morning. They also ran out of coffee and it was only after complaining to the owner that more was bought for the following morning. We ate dinner at the hotel and, with one exception, the food, considering it was cooked in a makeshift kitchen on the beach, was very good.

The pool is nice. It's clean and the water seems to be well maintained but what lets it down is most of the paint on the floor is very worn and it makes it look dirty. The hotel itself is in a fantastic position - right on the beach, there's a small clump of mangroves just a short walk away which is good for exploring and when the tide goes out you can walk all the way to the very small reef.

Perhaps once all the reconstruction work is finished and they start marketing it properly, it'll really take off because, in the right hands, it would be an absolute gold mine! Went to kijiji to spend time with the family. The place is lovely, lots of wind and good beach. We had to arrange our own sitting area.

We ordered food the first time and waited an hour. We sent a reminder. A cousin had to then stand by the kitchen in order to ensure that we actually got the food.
